The Departments of Pediatric Oncology from Hospital Sant Joan de Déu in Barcelona and Hospital de Pediatría del Centro Médico Nacional Siglo XXI in Mexico DF have jointly designed a new maintenance protocol for diffuse intrinsic pontine gliomas (DIPG), based in the experience of both medical centers in the treatment of patients with this tumor and in the promising results obtained in Mexico with low grade gliomas.

The Mexican group will give this protocol from diagnosis only if a previous biopsy confirms a low grade tumor. So far, biopsy is not performed in Hospital Sant Joan de Déu in case of DIPG.

Find attached the treatment scheme, which includes Carboplatin, Vincristina, Fluvastatin, Thalidomide y Nimotuzumab. Its administration starts after radiotherapy is finished.
