Why this Fund?
From the moment Alicia passed away, her family strongly believed that her fight to overcome this terrible disease must go on. Because of it, we decided to set up a monetary fund to support research on childhood brainstem tumors.
As it is explained in other sections, due to the low frequency of this tumor, resources for research have always been very low and consequently, very few progress has been achieved in order to find a cure in the past 30 years.
Our goal is to collaborate in the change of this scene, by promoting and funding lines of research on brainstem tumors.
After evaluating different possibilities for implementation, the Alicia Pueyo Fund was set up in 2008 by a signed agreement between Alicia’s family and the Foundation for Research and Teaching Sant Joan de Deu.
The Fund is integrated in this Foundation.
