Before creating this fund, we analyzed the possible options for its implementation. Although our first idea was to create our own independent foundation, the related cost for the establishment and maintenance of a new entity made us change our mind. Our desire is that every single euro in the Fund goes to research.

So we finally decided to set up the Fund in a foundation already existing and functioning. The reasons why we chose the Sant Joan de Deu Foundation are:

-The Laboratory for Childhood Cancer Research led by Dr.Jaume Mora, Alicia's oncologist, is integrated in this Foundation. This laboratory carries out the research projects financed by the Fund, given its excellent research team and the high quality of their work.

-The Foundation manages the entire Hospital Sant Joan de Deu research activity, so they have the necessary resources for the Fund administration.

Besides, the amounts donated to this Foundation (including donations to Alicia's Fund) have the advantage to be tax deductible.

For this reason, Sant Joan de Deu Foundation is the holder of the bank account which donations have to be sent.

However, the Alicia Pueyo Fund is separately accounted in the Foundation Sant Joan de Deu financial statements, as it is said in the regulatory protocol signed between the parties.
